The 2nd International Conference on Decision Making in Medicine and Law: Opportunities and pitfalls of information technologies welcomes authors to submit proposals for presentations of thematic sessions.

Topics of interest

Topics of interest are as follows (the list is not exhaustive):

• Artificial intelligence (AI) applications in medicine and law
• Decision-making in forensic psychiatric assessment
• The role of neuroscience in legal proceedings
• Multidisciplinary perspectives in forensic evaluations
• Ethical aspects linked to the use of AI in the forensic field
• AI applications in prediction of aggression and violence
• AI and its implications in guilt, punishment, and responsibility
• AI-based systems to support personal injury compensation.

Submission types

The following types of submissions are solicited:

1. Abstracts of oral presentations
2. Abstracts to be presented in the poster session
3. Proposals of thematic sessions, including the abstracts of 4-5 oral presentations on a related topic. Those who organize one or more accepted sessions will be added to the Scientific Programme Committee.

Journal article collection

After the conference, authors will be invited to submit a full article on the topics of their presentation for possible publication in an article collection to appear in Elsevier International Journal of Law and Psychiatry

Submission instructions

Prospective attendees interested in contributing to the conference are invited to submit:

• title and short abstract (as plain text) of their proposed oral or poster presentation
• title of the thematic session they propose to chair, as well as authors, titles and abstracts of 4-5 contributions to be orally presented within the session.

The deadline for standard submissions is September 1, 2024 (abstract submissions).
However, we will also accept late submissions until September 15, 2024 September 25, 2024 (late abstract submissions).

The Organising Committee will select oral and poster contributions as well as thematic sessions to be presented on the basis of appropriateness to the conference topics, technical quality, speaker plurality, and time constraints.

Authors of submissions sent by the standard submission deadline will be notified by September 5, 2024, in time to register with the (lowest) early registration fee.
Authors of late submissions will be notified by September 20, 2024 September 28, 2024, in time to register with the standard registration fee.
